If its an alternate timeline, how does the box become burried under his patio? —This unsigned comment was made by 77.96.73.222 (talk • contribs) 07:02, October 2, 2007. - I gather that his actions have consequence, but Dan isn't phased by them, as he is from another timeline. So Dan doesn't remember hearing that door slam in episode 2, because it's an alternate Dan.
- I prefer to ignore the "alternate timeline" stuff until it (and it probably will) becomes painfully obvious.--Tim Thomason 02:27, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
A response to criticism of alternate timeline idea. Since Dan is traveling back in time, there can be other Dans traveling back in time in their alternate timelines. Other Dans travel back in time, and they wind up in different alternate timeline than the one they originate. There is no reason why this traveling phenomenon is just happening to only one Dan. The show is just portraying one timeline. —This unsigned comment was made by 70.239.201.82 (talk • contribs) 18:44, October 11, 2007. Please sign talk pages and forum posts with four tildes: ~~~~. One Timeline
The argument against One Timeline is horrible. He remembers because he travels. No one else would remember the pre-Dan history except Dan and whomever else "traveled" to that time (e.g. Livia), since they came from a time that had that history. I will be adding this counter argument to the main article. My proposal to the community is to consider taking out the argument against One Timeline, unless of course another argument is brought up.
